Heterosexual Sex Happens to Women

I started reading Beauty and Sadness by Yasunari Kawabata, which won the Nobel Prize in Literature or the Male Adulation of Female Inability to Meaningfully Consent to a Sexual Relationship with an Adult Male Prize. The protagonist reminisces about an affair he started with a 15 year old girl when he was 30. Imagine, the legal age of consent in Japan is 13 but the legal drinking and smoking age is 20. What the fuck?!

Young boys, aged 13, are not expected to know anything good about sex. There isn’t a hypersexualization of the young male because he performs sex. At that age, he cannot be thought to meaningfully or knowledgeably perform it. Girls, on the other hand, receive this performance, so at any age really, they can be performed upon from an experienced male. I mean we are not talking about infants and toddlers here! We are civilized! Just the barely-teens. They are ready to be shown the ways. Because in general, women and girls are receptacles of sexual experiences. They do not apply their own knowledge or will on the act of sex.

In the same way, women do not desire. They are desired. They do not cast their gaze upon; the male gaze is cast upon them. Unless they are old creepy lonesome bitches. Think Mrs. Robinson. Elena Lincoln. A young woman, throbbing with desire, cannot pursue, seduce and act upon a man. Indeed, if such a woman exists, she is a witch. A maneater, a spider.

13—20… Fuck!

I am writing again… maybe.
